This weekend, I finally got around to printing something I’ve been meaning to do for months—a dice tower! I’ve always loved tabletop games, and there’s just something so satisfying about watching your dice tumble through a tower with that delightful clack-clack-clack sound.
For this project, I used a sleek grey ABS filament that gave the whole thing a solid, stone-like finish. It honestly looks like it belongs in a dwarven fortress. It was a bit of a challenge (ABS can be a drama queen), but the end result? Totally worth it.
🧪 Filament used: SUNLU Grey ABS – Get it from Amazon or directly from SUNLU
🛠️ Printer: Bambulab X1C
🔗 STL Source: Castle Dice Tower
⚙️ Basic Print Settings I Used:
- Nozzle Temp: 240°C
- Bed Temp: 110°C
- Layer Height: 0.2mm
- Infill: 15% (gyroid for extra flair)
- Supports: No
- Enclosure: Yep – ABS likes it cozy
📝 Lessons Learned With This Dice Tower:
- Use a brim—ABS will warp if you give it the chance.
- Let it cool in the printer—taking it off too soon can cause cracks.
- Ventilation is your friend (ABS smells kinda like melting LEGO).
